Spearheading the path of nu metalcore paved by bands like Villains and Barrier, VCTMS takes that sound on Vol 4 and pushes the envelope even further. Building off the previous volumes, the band explores new territories while still keeping it unique to their sound. VCTMS constantly keeps it fresh, whether it’s on a chill track like Intoxication or when they’re trying to demolish you with a moment like Carefully \/\/ Caged. While the band certainly goes heavy, that doesn’t stop the band from getting emotional and melodic either. An acoustic number with Meredith singing through her intense struggles with cystic fibrosis, it’s a track that will make you tear up and sing along at the same time. Vol 4: Numb the Ache is a special album for VCTMS. It’s not an album that you can say is just nu metalcore, or an album that is close to their peers. Exploring elements of hip hop, post hardcore, and deathcore, the average music enjoyer will definitely find at least one track to fall in love with. It’s an album that helps you deal with your pain, and it’s an album that we all feel deserves its flowers for its anniversary.
