“My mercy prevails over my wrath, I watch decisions from an unworthy god”
The Papercut crew and the Gorilla Gang reunite to bring you another story in the ever-growing partnership. PCRxSGR-003 is none other than the deluxe edition of You Left A Sinner, Covered in the Blood by angel metalcore titans asthelifeleavesyoureyes! Living in a world of metalcore bands where they are either extremely derivative of bands from the early 2000s or just not interesting, asthelifeleavesyoureyes is among the few that actually do the style right. This is perfectly shown in a track like Desaturator, which shows the band taking influence from standard rock styles as well. Halfway through the track we get a little twinkly guitar riff before building up into an absolutely stunning solo while the screams soar in the background. Something as beautiful as this is seldom found in metalcore, especially in this style, and is deeply appreciated. The same goes for the clean chorus in a track like And There Are Twice As Many Stars. A lot of metalcore bands have below average cleans with less than memorable melodies, but this track shows the opposite. It’s yet another reason why asthelifeleavesyoureyes stands out amongst the rest as a cogent force to be reckoned with within the genre.
A track like In Spite of Wishing and Wanting is another standout, bringing those noodly riffs back to the forefront while still bringing the breakdowns in. They pack a massive punch within a minute timespan, showing that they know when to end a track unlike some contemptoraries. While the original release was already great as it is, the deluxe edition shows asthelifeleavesyoureyes rearrange the tracklist to show the EP in a new light. Even an interlude track such as But Tonight He Is Alive feels like it is given a completely new meaning in this new order. On top of that, we now have the addition of the stellar The Original Sin and Weight of War. These two ass beaters fit right at home and make you wonder if they weren’t already on there to begin with. They expand on the sound shown throughout the EP while still feeling like it hasn’t strayed too far from its sound. You Left A Sinner, Covered in the Blood is a masterful metalcore EP, filled with everything you could want. The breakdowns go hard, the riffs are memorable, the solos and guitar work are wonderful. Which is exactly why we wanted to give this EP the love it deserves with its very first vinyl pressing. We have two gorgeous handmades /50 as well as a random color /100 for you to feast your eyes on. Make sure to grab a copy today before this chapter is closed and it sells out!
