The anniversaries keep on rolling at SGR HQ as we wish a happy 5 year anniversary to the debut album from metalcore underdogs fromjoy! it lingers was most people’s introductions to the fromjoy universe. Fans were immediately drawn to the albums visceral nature and extremely varied musical styles, in a way that can only be done by fromjoy. No other band could combine metalcore, breakcore, various samples of spoken word and pop songs, mathcore, and electronic music within the same album. The music is dark, gritty, and intense, and it’s matched by its incredibly heartbreaking and honest lyricism. This is a bleak and depressing album that you feel all the way though. That anguish doesn’t let go until the ending of the magnum opus “The gift of my hate..it lingers..” as the acoustic guitars cry out one last time. It’s relentless up until its final moment, thanks to the gripping story the album has to tell. 

The story fromjoy is trying to convey throughout it lingers is complemented by how perfect the album flows. This is shown best in the three part saga towards the end of it lingers. It starts with No Skin, a par for the course fromjoy track with some breakcore mixed in. That’s then followed by No Light, a beautifully haunting electronic track. We conclude with No Mouth, one of the bands fastest and heaviest tracks to date. An epic this complex and diverse is only something fromjoy can do. It helps show that it lingers is an incredibly special album, from an incredibly special band. Which is why we at SGR wanted to give the album the love it deserves with a much needed repress. On this go around, we have four breathtaking handmades, as well as an ice queen pigment and mystery mix!
